For many of us this season is one of comfort and warmth and a time to connect with friends and family. Comfort foods rule along with imagery of mellifluous toasts and sometimes boisterous revelry at the dinner table. This season has started well. Even with jaunts between nursing facilities and the hospitals my parents have been frequenting, our family managed to pull off a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. This year we decided to emphasize various tastes of traditions we experienced in our Midwestern childhoods. This was accomplished using only plant based foods and traditional preparation techniques. It was a good start for a season which looks to be full of challenges offset by many opportunities to share warmth and cheer of the season.
